From the winding alleys of the medina to the ruins of Carthage and the light bouncing along the coast, Tunis offers a wonderful, layered escape full of UNESCO-listed history and culture, and some good beaches too.
Yet Tunis, just a two-hour flight from Paris and three hours from London, remains under-the-radar compared to other north African cities. Now is the time to visit, then to take your time and move at Tunis’ own rhythm.

I always recommend somewhere that captures the architectural charm and layered history of Tunisia. These intimate hotels, close to many historic sites, offer a serene base from which to explore the city and its environs.
